Plan the operational handover

Handover works best when operational needs are considered while the scope is still being defined.

Name the interfaces

Identify what engineering, procurement, construction and operations each need from the others. Ambiguous interfaces often become incomplete records at the end of a job.

Agree acceptance early

Document the evidence needed for completion, including inspections, asset information and operating documentation where applicable. Confirm who accepts each element.

Prepare the receiving team

Set aside time for familiarization, outstanding-item review and transfer of records. A handover is a coordinated process, not just a file transfer.

Bring these questions into your next service conversation. The right process depends on the site, the people and the responsibilities agreed for the engagement.
